Saturday: The Red Bulls perform well in all conditions
Great overall performance by the Red Bull Racing team, which managed to place both of its drivers in the top 3 in qualifying, even though Mark Webber will drop on the starting grid due to his penalty. Starting from the front row, Sebastian Vettel is quite confident for his home Grand Prix tomorrow.
Sebastian Vettel – 6th and 2nd:
« The track was optimal at the end of the session, which is when we posted our best times. In these conditions, it’s always very difficult, because you can lose the car with the streams present on the circuit. I lost a bit of time behind Mark at the end of my first lap, but it’s always difficult in these conditions because you can’t see anything in your mirrors. I think we had the pace to be on pole today – so we need to look at what Fernando did with his strategy. But it can be a lottery with such conditions and fortunately, we didn’t lose the car, which is good, and I will start from the front row tomorrow. We are consistent at the moment, which is key. »
Mark Webber – 5th and 3rd [8th on the grid after a penalty]:
« It was difficult for us, and we had complicated conditions on track. When you know you have a five-place penalty, it’s not easy to perform well, but I’m happy to have finished in such a good position today. We put in some good laps and achieved a good result. Fernando stopped to put on fresher tires, which we might have also done, but it doesn’t matter, we’re third, and that’s good – even with the penalty. I look forward to the race and hope to climb back up. We can do a lot starting from 8th. We’ve shown that our car was fast in all conditions, and we hope to move up in the hierarchy. »
