Friday: The Williams Competitive in the Rain

The Williams FW34s were quite comfortable in the rain in Germany, as evidenced by the fastest time set by Pastor Maldonado during the second practice session. Despite a crash by Valtteri Bottas at the wheel of his car during Free Practice 1, Bruno Senna was able to run smoothly during the day's second session.

Friday: The Williams Competitive in the Rain

Pastor Maldonado – 9th and 1st

«It was a real challenge during this session for everyone as the track conditions were constantly changing and I was trying to adapt my driving style and the car to be as comfortable as possible in these conditions. We have a good balance on the car in the rain, even with a slightly wet track, and the time I was able to set in the second session shows that if it rains tomorrow, we will be competitive. »

Valtteri Bottas – 13th [Practice 1]

Unfortunately, the rain affected what we were testing and we had to adapt to the weather, but we were still able to do a few laps and accomplish much of what was planned. The session ended disappointingly for me when I lost the rear coming into the Stadium; I locked the rear when I braked, but I want to thank the team for the great job of getting the car ready for this afternoon’s session for Bruno.

Bruno Senna – 16th [Free Practice 2]

« It was quite a frustrating day because the weather changed so much. We started on wet tires, but the track dried up very quickly, and we switched to intermediates with which our pace was good, which is promising. Unfortunately, we missed the right window to set some good laps on a drying track, but overall the car seems good, and with a bit more work on the setup, we should be able to have a good weekend. »
