Sunday: Schumacher and Mercedes settle for 7th place
Although starting from third position, Michael Schumacher could only settle for 7th place after suffering from a less well-balanced car on a dry track and on a circuit that did not necessarily suit the W03. Nico Rosberg, for his part, experienced a difficult race after a poor start and a long second pit stop.
Michael Schumacher – 7th:
We did what was possible for us today, and we can be satisfied with that. We were quite competitive at the end of the race, but in general, we knew that the characteristics of the circuit wouldn’t suit us under normal conditions: we certainly could have done better in the rain.
Despite everything, we managed to score some points that could prove important for the team. Our attention is now focused on Hockenheim, our next home race, where things should, in any case, go better. I can simply say to all motorsport enthusiasts that we count on their support. As always in Germany, it will be a very special weekend, and we want to celebrate it with them. So make sure to be there at Hockenheim!
Nico Rosberg – 15th:
« The whole weekend just did not go as planned for me, which was somewhat unexpected and really disappointing. Today, in the race, I had a bad start and I generally wasn’t in the rhythm. Then, a bad second pit stop sent me to the back, so all in all, it just didn’t work out.
Now we have to improve the car for our next home race at Hockenheim in two weeks. It’s a completely different circuit from Silverstone and should suit the car better, so we hope to do well for all our fans there.
