Sunday: HRT Between Boldness and Progression
Forced to try offensive strategies, the Spanish team was unable to get ahead of Marussia, but noted significant progress nonetheless.
Pedro de la Rosa – 20th
« The truth is that the race went well. We had to take some strategic risks and try something different because, in our position, if you do the same thing as everyone else, you don’t move forward. We attempted a pit stop to see if we could beat Marussia, but it didn’t happen, even though we weren’t far off. Tire degradation was less than expected, so I’m happy. There was no rain at the end, and we knew it would be tough, but I think we had a good race. Finally, I would like to add that I am happy to hear that Maria de Villota’s condition is improving positively because we were all worried. We hope she continues on this path and that we can see her soon. »
Narain Karthikeyan – 21st
« It was an unpredictable weekend in terms of weather conditions, and in the end, the race took place in dry conditions, in stark contrast to yesterday’s qualifying. I had a little battle with Charles Pic, but my rear tires started to wear, and I couldn’t stay with him, so I pitted. In terms of pace, we were just on par with Marussia but over a race distance, we struggle with the rear tires. Now, we have a week to work for Germany. Like everyone, I was very shocked by Maria’s accident and I want to wish her a speedy recovery. »
