Saturday: Caterham frustrated at not being able to prove themselves

Although relatively satisfied with their performance in qualifying, the Caterham drivers regret not having been able to seize all the opportunities offered by the rain and especially not being able to show the full potential brought by the new parts to the CT01.

Saturday: Caterham frustrated at not being able to prove themselves

Vitaly Petrov – 20th and 19th [18th on the grid]:

« I’m almost happy with my performance today! It’s a bit disappointing not to have been able to show the full potential of the car, but it’s good to know that the upgrades are working. It’s obviously important for me but also for all the guys here at the track and back at the factory because we know we’re making progress.

It seems that it will rain again tomorrow, and that once again means we will not be able to show what we have accomplished with this new package. With the summer break approaching in a few weeks, I hope we will have dry races in Germany and Hungary, where we can really show how far we have come.

With the rain, I think tomorrow promises to be a really exciting race for the fans. For us, it will be mainly about making sure we don’t make any mistakes, executing the strategy well, and keeping the car on the track. If we can do that, then anything can happen.

Heikki Kovalainen – 19th and 20th [19th on the grid]:

In qualifications today, it was essentially about trying to make your lap at the right time. There was a moment when the track was drying and we considered switching to slick tires, but then it started raining harder, and I couldn’t set my best lap.

I was in a group of cars at the beginning of the session and it cost me a bit of time, but other than that, there wasn’t really any problem, I don’t think there was more to expect with these conditions.
