Friday: Pedro de la Rosa saves his tires at HRT
After a good first practice session in the morning, Pedro de la Rosa preferred to preserve his wet tires for the rest of the weekend and avoid taking risks on the track. Forced to give his place to Dani Clos this morning, Karthikeyan still needs to master the new section to confidently approach the qualifying sessions.
Pedro de la Rosa – 19th and 24th:
« This morning we drove on a wet track and tested everything we wanted, so during the second session we didn’t feel the need to take risks while the conditions were not the best, and on top of that, we only have three sets of rain tires for the entire weekend. That’s why we decided not to go out.
Regarding the qualifications, if we are dealing with the same conditions, the important thing is to complete a clean lap, without traffic and without too much water on the track. Today we acclimatized to Silverstone in rainy conditions and that was the objective.
Narain Karthikeyan – 20th [in Free Practice 2]:
« Today we were faced with typically English weather: it was a real downpour and as a result, the driving was not very conclusive. I am discovering the new section because I didn’t drive here last year, so we needed to ensure we drive well before qualifying. Hopefully, tomorrow we will have the opportunity to complete these laps to approach the qualifications as well-prepared as possible, where my goal will be to confirm my good performance in Valencia. »
Dani Clos – 20th [in Free Practice 1]:
« I am very happy to have taken the wheel of the F112 again because we conducted good tests despite the rain. We drew some positive conclusions and, personally, I enjoyed being in the car. The most important thing is that I kept accumulating kilometers in Formula One, and even more in different conditions. I improved with each lap while the track conditions were deteriorating. The team did a great job and I am very satisfied. »
