Lotus and Batman team up at Silverstone

Just as Toyota did with the previous opus of Christopher Nolan, *The Dark Knight*, featuring the famous bat, during the 2008 British Grand Prix, the Lotus team will promote the all-new adventures of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman: « Lotus F1 Team is pleased to announce that it will partner with *The Dark Knight Rises*, the epic conclusion of Christopher Nolan’s Batman film trilogy, this weekend at Silverstone, during the British Grand Prix, » reveals the British team in a statement. « To celebrate this partnership, the Lotus F1 Team cars, as well as the garage, helmets, and driver suits, will sport the film’s iconic logo throughout the weekend. »

On this occasion, the Lotus E20 cars will be displayed alongside the various vehicles of the Caped Crusader, starting with the Batmobile, introduced in Batman Begins, as well as the Batbike which caused a sensation in The Dark Knight and finally the Batpod which superhero fans can discover on French screens on July 25th. The Batmobile – or Tumbler – will then be exhibited for the rest of the weekend at the Sky stand: « We are delighted to collaborate with the Lotus F1 Team, » says Josh Berger, CEO of Warner Bros Entertainment in the United Kingdom and Spain. « We wish them the greatest success this weekend. Formula One fans are also often fans of the Dark Knight. We are confident that this partnership will be warmly welcomed worldwide. »

For his part, Eric Boullier, the director of the British team, believes that due to the livery of the Lotus E20, this association, for a weekend, makes perfect sense: This season, we are the “black knights” of Formula One, so this partnership with *The Dark Knight Rises* is perfectly fitting. The E20 looks fantastic with the Batman markings, and we are eager to see the fans’ reactions this weekend at Silverstone. Of course, we also hope for an epic conclusion for the E20 Dark Knight Rises during the Grand Prix.

Based on characters created by Bob Kane and published by DC Comics, the film The Dark Knight Rises is expected to be the third and final installment of the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan, who also directed the box office hit Inception and the critically acclaimed The Prestige. After the arrest of the Joker and the death of District Attorney Harvey Dent – alias Two-Face – in The Dark Knight, Gotham City falls prey to the cunning and formidable Bane, forcing Bruce Wayne to don the Batman suit one last time?
