Saturday: HRT satisfied to outpace Marussia again
On a circuit where they expected to struggle, the HRT drivers are pleased to be ahead of their rivals from Marussia. However, the Spanish team knows they will have to keep an eye on the brakes of the F112 as, like in Montreal, the Valencia circuit is very demanding in this area and temperatures are expected to be scorching for the race.
Pedro de la Rosa – 21st and 21st:
« Today’s qualifying was very good. After yesterday’s accident, it didn’t take me long to be fast again, so I applaud my team for their efforts last night to repair the car. I’m also happy to finish ahead of our direct rivals when we didn’t expect it.
Regarding tomorrow’s race, we really don’t know what’s going to happen. All the new brake ducts we brought here were damaged in yesterday’s crash and now we won’t be able to use them, so we’ll be on the edge but, as always, and even more so at home, we’ll do everything we can to make our fans proud.
Narain Karthikeyan – 23rd and 22nd:
We made specific setting changes for the qualifications, which undoubtedly helped us as we achieved our best qualifying session so far this year. We are ahead of the Marussia, which is very important, and we are achieving similar times to those of Pedro, so I am very happy with the result.
I hope to continue this momentum for tomorrow’s race where we will have to keep an eye on the thermometer. But we are in better condition than in Canada and should be able to deliver a good performance.
I approach the race with full confidence after today and hope to achieve a good result.
