Saturday: Force India aims for the Top 10 at the Grand Prix
Confident after a good race in Monaco, the Indian team had a successful qualifying session, demonstrating its ability to reach Q3. This was achieved with Paul di Resta, who will start from eighth position, but not for Nico Hülkenberg who was hampered by a yellow flag at the end of Q2.
Paul di Resta – 11th and 8th
« I think we can be very happy with eighth place today, which puts us in a good position for the race. There was probably a bit more performance to extract from my car because I pushed a bit too hard on the chicanes on my last lap in Q3, but I don’t think it would have made a big difference. In all the sessions we showed how competitive the car was, especially on long runs, and I think we can be confident about scoring good points tomorrow. It will be a long race, we just have to wait and see what happens with the weather conditions and who has the best understanding of the tires. »
Nico Hülkenberg – 10th and 13th
« I don’t think the 13th place reflects our pace today. We seemed very strong in Q1 and I felt really good in the car, especially after the changes we made between FP3 and qualifying. But I was unlucky in Q2 when I was held up by a yellow flag on my fast lap due to a Sauber coming out in front of me in turn 8, and I had to abandon my attempt. If I had managed a clean lap, I think I would probably have reached Q3. I still feel good for tomorrow and the gaps are very tight. We know that overtaking is possible here, so I think we can expect a competitive and exciting race. »
