Saturday: HRT feels like growing wings in Montreal
The Spanish team confirms its good performance at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, as well as its domination over its rivals at Marussia, notably thanks to Pedro de la Rosa, while an error in the last corner prevented Narain Karthikeyan from achieving a better result.
Pedro de la Rosa – 19th and 21st:
« I am very happy, for myself and for the whole team. In Monaco, we had a good qualifying, and here it was even better. The goal was to achieve the fastest lap possible, and we succeeded. 1:17.4 is good, but we could have done better with the last set of tires; however, I wasn’t able to improve on my previous lap. We have been fast all weekend, it was no coincidence, and we should do well tomorrow.
With the Soft tires, we are very consistent and the most important thing is that we were fast on the straights, so we have a chance to overtake other cars and it will be difficult for others to overtake us.
As the race approaches tomorrow, I believe we can compete with anyone because our car has good speed and is stable under braking, so the goal will be to make the most of it.
Narain Karthikeyan – 21st and 24th:
It was a complicated qualifying session for me. With my first set of tires, I encountered a lot of traffic and on my fastest lap, I had navigated well through all sectors but made a mistake at the entrance of the last corner, which cost me six-tenths.
My qualifications are weak this year and I need to improve that, but we have a good race pace and tomorrow we will fight with our main rivals to try to achieve a good result.
