Red Bull will not be disturbed by the FIA’s decision

Last weekend in Monaco, a minor controversy arose regarding holes that Red Bull had drilled in the rear of its flat floor. Some teams, including Ferrari and McLaren, threatened to file a complaint after the Grand Prix, but ultimately they settled for seeking clarification from the FIA, which ruled yesterday that the solution adopted by the reigning world champion team was illegal. Therefore, the Austrian team will have to make the necessary modifications before the Canadian Grand Prix in a week.

However, this should not have too significant an impact on the performance of the RB8s, as this configuration brings a gain considered minimal. Furthermore, according to Helmut Marko, it was not planned to be used.

« We did not plan to use this floor in Montreal anyway. We had prepared a different setup using a flat version of the floor. Therefore, we will not have to modify our cars for Canada. We are not disrupted in our preparation by this decision. »

Red Bull is the only team to have secured two victories this season. But in Canada, on a fast track that favors top speed, the RB8 might not be at its advantage.
