Räikkönen knows that his time will come
There have already been six different winners in 2012, and there are still some contenders for the top step of the podium. Among them is Kimi Räikkönen, whose Lotus seems to have the potential to win before the end of the season.
After his new Spanish podium, Räikkönen did not hide that he was disappointed not to have been able to compete for the victory on the Catalan circuit. In Monaco, he could not do better than 9th, which is a rather unsatisfactory result considering what his teammate had shown at the beginning of the weekend.
Since the beginning of the season, it seems that the Lotus E20 could be in a position to win and it regularly appears as a favorite. This was again the case in the Principality, with Button identifying the black and gold cars as the ones to watch. However, this first victory has not yet come, but Kimi Räikkönen is not worried. For him, it’s just a matter of time.
A race doesn’t change the fact that we have been very strong everywhere, even in Monaco, for part of the weekend. Monaco is completely different from other tracks and I don’t think we need to worry about it not being our best weekend, the Finn puts it into perspective.
It’s true that the Lotus is undoubtedly the most consistent car since the start of the season, which makes Räikkönen optimistic for the rest of the championship that still has 14 rounds to go.
« We were fast everywhere and we were on the podium. It’s difficult to get everything right at the right time, but that’s what you have to do to win a Grand Prix. »
Will this perfect weekend take place in Canada? No one can predict it, but according to the 2007 world champion, the Lotus should once again prove competitive on this fast track.
« We have been competitive everywhere and we expect the same thing there, but as always, it’s easier to say after the first day of testing, » explains Räikkönen.
