Sunday: Grosjean and Lotus had hoped for much more in Monaco

The Lotus team had high hopes in Monaco today but they ended up leaving with only two points, those from the 9th place secured by Kimi Räikkönen. The Finn couldn't do better after experiencing some issues with his tires. Romain Grosjean, on his part, had to retire even before the first turn following a contact with Michael Schumacher's Mercedes.

Kimi Räikkönen – 9th

The ninth place is the best we could do today. I started quite far back and struggled during the race, so it hasn’t been an easy weekend, but at least we score some points. It’s better than nothing, but it’s not exactly what we wished for. One race doesn’t change the fact that we’ve been very strong everywhere – even here at the start of the weekend. This circuit is very different from all the others, and I don’t think we need to worry too much that this hasn’t been our best weekend. That’s how it is – sometimes things don’t go as you hope, and we must think about Canada, hoping for a better result.

Romain Grosjean – Retirement

«We struggled to get off the racing line and it seems that Lewis (Hamilton) ahead didn’t get a very good start either. Fernando (Alonso) came alongside me, so I was on the outside of two cars, and unfortunately Michael (Schumacher) was on my left. There was no room, and then I had to face the entire pack after just 100 meters, which is never a very pleasant feeling. It’s a disappointing end to a weekend where there were positive signs, but that’s racing, and we look forward to Canada where we hope to bounce back.»
