Sunday: A crucial 13th place for Caterham

Heikki Kovalainen – 13th:

« This was obviously a good race for the team and I am thrilled that we are back in tenth position (in the constructors’ standings) and that we recorded our best result of the year. Despite everything, I think we could have done a little better, but the rain simply came at the wrong time for us. If it had rained even more and everyone had stopped, we could have stayed 12th, maybe even a little better with the stops, but when the downpour hit, my brake temperatures dropped, and I was no longer able to maintain the pace I had had until then.

However – it’s really a good day for the team, and it’s nice to be back in the garage and see everyone so happy. This kind of circuit always gives us a chance to fight, as I had said before the race, and it was really a great battle with Jenson, keeping him behind while attacking. We still have a lot to come with this car this season, so I think we can have other races like this one. It’s with results like today’s that we see everyone’s hard work paying off.

Vitaly Petrov – Retirement:

I got off to a good start and passed a few cars, but then a Sauber came up on me and hit me in the first corner. I immediately felt there was a problem with the front wing, so we took a few laps to assess the extent of the damage, but I had to stop to change the wing on the third lap. From there, I was able to push, but then I received a message on the steering wheel about a battery-related issue, and that’s when my race was over. My engineer told me to return to the pits on lap 16 due to an electrical problem, and that was the end of my race. It’s really unfortunate because I was in a good position after a strong start, and with the car’s competitiveness throughout the weekend, I could have had a chance to finish well, but these things happen in motorsport.
