Sunday: Rosberg on the podium, Schumacher retires
Nico Rosberg finished in second place at the Monaco Grand Prix while Michael Schumacher had to retire due to a fuel pressure problem. Rosberg is the man in form at the moment, having scored 59 points in the last four races, more than any other driver on the grid.
Nico Rosberg – 2nd:
« It’s a fantastic feeling to be on the podium for my home race in Monaco today in front of all my family and friends. The team did a superb job all weekend to make the car work well. Although we thought this circuit should suit our car, it was even better than expected. I got a good start, but Mark [Webber] drove a very controlled race today. I could keep in touch with him, but we all know how difficult it is to overtake on these streets, and I just couldn’t get past. But I’m still happy with my second place, and it’s nice to secure another podium for the guys here and everyone at the factories in Brackley and Brixworth. I’m looking forward to being in Canada now and maintaining this momentum. »
Michael Schumacher – Withdrawal:
« What can I say? It’s simply a shame to end the race this way. In any case, the fuel pressure issue has nothing to do with the incident at the start. But it is undoubtedly disappointing because I secretly hoped to finish on the podium. I’ll keep the positives from this weekend with me for Canada. The track should suit us, and I hope to have a normal, incident-free race. »
