Saturday: Maldonado and Williams come back down to Earth in Monaco
After inheriting the pole position in Spain, the Williams team comes back down to earth at Monaco after qualifying sessions deemed below expectations by the Grove team. Although he managed to reach Q3, Pastor Maldonado will start in 19th position after being penalized for a collision during Free Practice. Bruno Senna, on the other hand, will start from 13th place.
Pastor Maldonado – 21st and 9th (24th on the grid):
« Everything was quite tight today. We were in the rhythm and could aim for a place in the top 5, but I encountered traffic during what could have been my best lap. My second lap in Q3 was a bit slower as we lost a bit of grip with the car and the tires.
It will be difficult tomorrow with the penalty, but I will do my best and we’ll see.
Bruno Senna – 16th and 14th (13th on the grid):
« I am disappointed with the qualifying. The car had the potential for a good lap, but unfortunately, I simply pushed too hard, and the times didn’t come. I’m frustrated with myself, but we know we have a strong car, so now we just have to see what we can do tomorrow. You never know what can happen in Monaco, but it’s always easier starting higher up on the grid. »
