Thursday: Force India anticipates a disrupted weekend
Despite the rain, the day was rather studious for the Indian team. Both drivers were able to complete their program during FP1 and endured the whims of Mother Nature in the afternoon, a situation they want to be prepared for.
Nico Hülkenberg – 12th and 14th
« The first session in Monaco is always a moment to acclimatize and get used to the circuit again, especially because I didn’t race here last year. The morning session was active on the track, but we were able to complete our program, and I did a few stints on soft tires. The afternoon was disrupted by rain, and it was difficult to find the rhythm or complete our tire program. We didn’t think it would rain today, but the conditions can change very quickly here, and we have to be ready for that this weekend. »
Paul di Resta – 16th and 12th
The morning session went smoothly, and the basic settings were not bad. The track was quite green at the start, but it began to rubber in well during the last half hour. We worked a bit on the settings, changed the aerodynamic balance, and collected the data we wanted regarding the soft tires. The rain arrived quite early in the afternoon, and even though I fitted the super soft tires, I couldn’t complete a full dry stint with them. It’s good to have done a few kilometers with the intermediates because, as we saw today, it’s quite difficult to predict what the weather will be like on Saturday and Sunday.
