Sauber offers a third of its team to Monisha Kaltenborn

The Sauber team issued a statement this afternoon announcing the transfer of a third of the team’s shares to Monisha Kaltenborn. This transfer was orchestrated by Peter Sauber, who previously owned 100% of his team’s shares.

The director of the Swiss team has decided to start securing the future of his team. He has decided to entrust a third of his team to the current director of the board of directors of the team, Monisha Kaltenborn. Peter Sauber will therefore retain two-thirds of the shares, but these could pass to his son Alex in the months or years to come.

« When BMW withdrew from Formula 1 in 2009, Monisha Kaltenborn played a crucial role in the survival of the team, and since then she has done an incredible job as team principal. Transferring a third of the shares to her represents an important step for me to ensure continuity, » stated Peter Sauber in the statement released by the eponymous team.

The goal for Peter Sauber is to ensure continuity in the team’s leadership and to make sure that his successors share his vision: « My desire is to ensure that the company will continue to be managed as I would like in the long term. Monisha Kaltenborn and my son Alex, who joined the company as marketing director in 2010 and has been part of the board of directors since then, understand this objective. This means that we can offer our employees positive prospects for the future. »

Monisha Kaltenborn expressed being honored by Peter Sauber’s decision and she will do everything to prove him right: « For me, this step is a mark of the greatest possible trust, and I will do everything in my power to prove myself worthy. »
