Sunday: Disappointing weekend for Marussia
After the Mugello tests, the Russian team expected better but was unable to improve the performance of its car. Timo Glock believes the performance is far off the mark while Charles Pic had to retire due to a transmission issue.
Timo Glock – 18th
I got a very good start. The first lap was good, and I had a bit of a fight with Lewis during that lap. Overall, after the positions settled, I just tried to conserve the tires as long as possible. We were struggling with a loose rear end, once again. On my side, I can only give 80% at the moment. It’s still not perfect, and we’re lacking pace, so we need to analyze and fix the main issues before Monaco. On a lighter note, congratulations to Pastor Maldonado and the Williams team. They ran a great race today.
Charles Pic – Abandon
« I didn’t really get off to a good start today. But after that, I had a good rhythm and I got ahead of the HRTs again. Things were going well for me when, on the 26th lap, I suddenly lost power and came into the pits, where I unfortunately had to retire. We encountered a driveshaft problem, so we need to understand what happened. There is a lot of work for everyone over the next two weeks to improve in Monaco because we didn’t have the weekend we hoped for. After attending the 70th anniversary party for Sir Frank Williams last night, I’m happy for him that he achieved this result today with Pastor and his team. On our side, we’re looking forward to the next race and hoping for some progress. »
