Sunday: Hülkenberg scores a point with Force India
Force India will not leave the Spanish Grand Prix empty-handed thanks to Nico Hülkenberg, who held off Mark Webber towards the end of the race to seize the point for tenth place. Paul di Resta, on the other hand, could not hold back the Toro Rosso drivers and had to settle for 14th place.
Nico Hülkenberg – 10th:
« We worked hard during the race today, so it’s nice to be rewarded with a point. It was a very physically demanding race and there was no downtime because I had Mark [Webber] in my mirrors during the second half of the race. It was a great battle, with a lot of pressure, but fortunately I was able to stay ahead of him, which wasn’t easy with the DRS on the main straight.
Given my starting position, it’s good to score a point and I don’t think we could have hoped for more from the race. The team did an excellent job in the pits and with the strategy, so I’m happy with what we achieved today.
Paul Di Resta – 14th:
« I am disappointed not to have finished higher so I could fight for the points because my race seemed promising at the start. But I lost positions, so we need to analyze why our performance with the hard tires did not meet our expectations.
During the second part of the race, I mainly fought with the Toro Rosso cars, but they were on soft tires while I was on hard tires, and it was impossible to keep them behind me.
I think it’s just one of those races where it didn’t work out for me, so we’re going to try to come back stronger in Monaco.
