Sunday: Tough race for Red Bull

The Red Bull team experienced a complicated Spanish Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber both had problems with their front wings while the German driver even received a penalty. Mark Webber, on the other hand, had significant pace issues and could do no better than 11th place, just outside the points.

Sunday: Tough race for Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel – 6th

« It was a tough race and a complicated day. I’m not completely satisfied, as we could probably have finished one position higher, but we made a good comeback at the end. We were clearly stronger at the end of the race, and it was fun. When you have ups and downs, it’s always difficult. I don’t know what the problem was when I had to change the front wing, I wasn’t sure if it was damaged or if something was stuck – maybe a bit of rubber or something else. I tried to do an extra lap, but it wasn’t the right solution, and I came back to change the wing. It cost us a bit of time, but it was the right thing to do, as I was told there was damage on the left front of the wing. »

Mark Webber – 11th

« It was an interesting race and a difficult first lap. I don’t know how I managed to damage my front wing, but I had to go through the pits to get a new one. I lost a lot of time because of that – and during the few laps before the change. We had to come in, and when you’re out of position here, things are complicated – you have to take care of your tires, and when you catch up with other drivers, your tires are shot. Our pace was a mystery: I was stuck behind the Force India, and you can see that the McLarens weren’t much better, yet Seb still managed to score some points. »
