Alexander Rossi will drive the Caterham in Barcelona

Alexander Rossi is the test driver for the Caterham F1 team and one of the members of the driver development program set up by Caterham. The American will have the opportunity to drive the Malaysian team’s 2012 car, the CT01, in Spain at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Rossi will not be making his debut behind the wheel of an F1 car, as he has already had the chance to drive one – he drove a BMW Sauber after his title in Formula BMW in 2008. More recently, he drove the Team Lotus T127 during the young driver tests held in Abu Dhabi in November 2011.

The native of Auburn, California, expressed his delight at the opportunity presented to him: “I’m looking forward to getting back in a F1 single-seater in Spain and I want to thank the team for giving me the chance to drive in Free Practice 1 in Barcelona.”

The objective of this session for Alexander Rossi will be to learn and accumulate kilometers behind the wheel of an F1: I have a clear goal for this session – to ensure that I follow the plan set by the engineers, not make mistakes, and learn as much as possible throughout the weekend. […] I know that the whole team will do everything they can to help me maximize my performance on Friday.
