Mugello Testing – Day 3: Grosjean in Front Again
After finishing yesterday at the top, Romain Grosjean did it again today. The Lotus driver thus sets the best time of these three test days held at Mugello.
Romain Grosjean once again made a mark at Mugello by setting the fastest time for the second consecutive day. The French driver outpaced Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull and Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari.
The Spanish driver had a difficult day. His F2012 was equipped with many new features, but in the middle of the afternoon, he had an accident that forced the mechanics to work hard to repair the car, losing more than two hours as a result. However, he still managed to cover 98 laps.
The most active on track was Heikki Kovalainen at the wheel of the Caterham CT01. The Finnish driver completed 139 laps, equivalent to the distance of two Grand Prix races. Nico Rosberg was the second most frequent driver on track today with 129 laps completed, following the 144 completed by Schumacher yesterday.
On the issues side, aside from those encountered by Ferrari following Alonso’s accident, Pastor Maldonado lost valuable track time this morning due to an electrical problem. The Venezuelan eventually finished the day with 63 laps.
