HRT will not participate in the Mugello tests
While it will not have any updates before the Spanish Grand Prix, the HRT team prefers to use the next three weeks to settle into its new headquarters in Madrid and will therefore skip the private tests in Mugello.
After missing a large portion of the private preseason tests and having truly done his first tests with the HRT F112 in Australia, the Iberian team will also skip the private tests scheduled from May 1 to 3 at the Italian circuit of Mugello.
After four races far from its European bases, and while it wouldn’t have had updates for the Mugello tests, HRT intends to take advantage of the next three weeks to settle into its new Madrid headquarters and thus approach the upcoming races with more serenity: « The start of the season was a bit rushed for us, and since the cars were assembled for the first time, we have been working on them during the Grand Prix. The team and the equipment have just returned from Bahrain after departing for Australia in early March. And they are returning for the first time to our new headquarters in the Caja Mágica, in Madrid » explains Luis Pérez-Sala, director of the Spanish team.
The Spaniard assures that this decision is the best for the team, which had not planned for novelties before the Spanish Grand Prix and would therefore have raced at Mugello only to accumulate data and experience: « This move is very important for us, and by not going to Mugello, we can work meticulously on the car to prepare for the Spanish Grand Prix. We will not have the latest developments by then, so we prefer to focus on what will be most beneficial to us, namely the team’s work at the factory… and there’s a lot to do. »
