Sunday: Sauber not fast enough for points
Sergio Pérez missed out on scoring points today at the Bahrain Grand Prix, but the Mexican driver believes it would have been difficult to do better as the C31 wasn't at ease on the Sakhir track. The same assessment from Kamui Kobayashi, who finished in 13th place at the Grand Prix.
Sergio Pérez – 11th
«We knew this circuit wouldn’t be easy for us and we were simply too slow today. We tried two strategies and split them between the two cars but today there was nothing that could have helped us. I had severe tire wear and due to a problem during a pit stop, we lost a place and a point to Michael (Schumacher). He was really fast on the straights. I had no chance of catching him. Next time, we’ll do better.»
Kamui Kobayashi – 13th
My start was too slow. I had too much wheel spin and we need to study that. I started the race with a set of new Mediums and we attempted a two-stop strategy but ultimately it didn’t work. The tires degraded faster than we expected and I had to make three stops, the last one seven laps from the end. I don’t see what we could have done better in today’s race. Our problem was a general lack of speed and we need to work hard to fix that.
