Friday: Still a lot of work to do for the Marussia drivers

The day was not exceptional for Charles Pic and Timo Glock, the two drivers of the Marussia team. Glock suffered from significant tire degradation and therefore believes that there is still much work to be done to improve the MR01 for qualifying and the race.

Friday: Still a lot of work to do for the Marussia drivers

Timo Glock – 22nd and 19th

«It was a very difficult day, especially during free practice 2. This morning, we had a generally normal program with the development and study of new parts brought in to help the car move forward. We did a lot of aerodynamic work, so we gathered interesting data and managed to make good times. Free practice session 2 was tough on the tires. They degraded very quickly, affecting rear stability on long runs. The car is still a bit too difficult to drive at the moment, so we need to find a way to make it better. Overall, it wasn’t the best start possible; in previous races, we had better Fridays. There is still a lot of work to do tonight to improve the car for tomorrow.»

Charles Pic – 21st and 20th

«Today, I focused on what we need to prepare for the race, testing the tires with fuel and looking at what we can do to manage the brakes and tire wear. By splitting the program, it means we have a lot of data to study tonight but I believe everyone in the paddock faces the same challenge.»
