Sunday: A Bad Weekend for Toro Rosso

The Toro Rosso drivers finished the race far from the points, Vergne in 16th place and Ricciardo in 17th. The STR7 was not competitive enough and both drivers used different setups in the race today to see which was better. Both men hope to do better next week in Bahrain.

Sunday: A Bad Weekend for Toro Rosso

Jean-Eric Vergne – 16th

« We decided to change some elements on the car that hadn’t worked well during qualifying, which is why I started from the pit lane, so my race setup was more similar to what we had in Melbourne and Sepang. I didn’t have high hopes of doing well starting last, but the most important thing was to see how the car behaved.

It was pretty good, so I think we can start with that in Bahrain and hopefully achieve a better result in the race. Today’s race offered me some really enjoyable moments because I was able to overtake a few cars, but it was too short for me, as with a few more laps I think I could have overtaken the two drivers ahead of me.

Daniel Ricciardo – 17th

« My start off the line was good, but I got pushed a bit wide at the first corner and lost what I had gained just before. Then, on the same lap, I avoided debris at turn 6 and lost another place. In fact, my whole first stint wasn’t very good and we struggled to overtake. In the second stint, things went a bit better and the last one was even better, but our pace today wasn’t good enough to hope for a better result. »
