Friday: Pic wants to get closer to Glock

Charles Pic discovered the Shanghai International Circuit today during the Chinese Grand Prix practice sessions, and although the Frenchman is pleased with his performance, he knows he can do better as demonstrated by the times set by his teammate, Timo Glock. The German driver had a mixed day; it started well but ended badly following a crash, fortunately without injury for him.

Friday: Pic wants to get closer to Glock

Timo Glock – 18th and 21st

Overall, it was a day of positive progress with the car and I was happy with my pace and how the car was functioning. Unfortunately, we encountered an issue that seems to be operational. Even though it’s disappointing, we can at least be certain that it’s not a problem with the car.

In fact, the package, which includes the new parts, seems very promising and I was really pleased with the car’s balance. There are some damages to the car, as might be expected after an impact, but it’s not too significant and the chassis is not damaged. It will still be a long night for the mechanics I think, so it’s a frustrating end for a day that had been problem-free until then. Personally, I’m fine. My hand hurt a bit because of the steering wheel during the impact, but it’s gone now.

Charles Pic – 22nd and 23rd

The day started with really challenging conditions in the rain, but we managed to complete our aerodynamics program, which was very important for us. This afternoon, we worked on a race simulation and switched to Soft tires at the end. Overall, it was a positive result. It’s a new circuit for me, and Timo’s position proves there’s more to extract (from me), so that will be my goal for tomorrow.
