Argentina instead of Korea in 2013?

According to the Italian press, South Korea could disappear from the calendar in favor of Argentina, which hopes to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix. According to the Argentine Minister of Tourism, Carlos Enrique Meyer, the contract should be signed very soon.

«The national government accepts the challenge of organizing an Argentine Grand Prix to promote our country to the world. But the contract for three years must be signed by the parties involved, » said Carlos Enrique Mayer, quoted by Autosprint.

The President of the country had already mentioned recent negotiations, and this confirms the progress of this new project. Argentina’s return would come at the expense of South Korea, as the promoters are no longer able to pay the amounts demanded by Bernie Ecclestone according to *Autosprint*.

The F1 hosting circuit in Argentina is expected to be located in the seaside resort of Mar del Plata. The track should be approximately 5km long and will be designed by the renowned architect Hermann Tilke. The circuit is expected to be a street track set against the backdrop of a former naval base overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
