Sunday: A ‘Magic’ Race by Senna for Williams

While Pastor Maldonado was forced to retire just a few laps from the finish due to an engine problem, while he was in tenth place, Bruno Senna made a remarkable comeback to sixth place, in a balancing act that his late uncle would have admired. The nephew of Magic thus scores his first points with Williams, something Ayrton Senna unfortunately did not have the time to do.

Sunday: A ‘Magic’ Race by Senna for Williams

Bruno Senna – 6th:

« I am really excited about today’s result. I am so happy to have scored points for the team after a very difficult race. It’s on days like this that you can show what you can do when conditions are tough. I knew we had to attack after the restart, so it was very satisfying to push hard, make no mistakes, and work my way through the pack. I am very happy for everyone on the team. »

Pastor Maldonado – 19th:

It was very difficult today with the conditions changing so quickly at the start. I had poor visibility in the pit lane, so I missed my pit entry after the restart, which set me back in the standings. After that, I just pushed on every lap and our pace was very solid. I had a good race to climb from 20th to 10th place, with just two laps remaining. Bruno had a superb race and we both were able to show that the car was competitive.

Mark Gillan, Chief Operations Engineer:

« It was truly a rollercoaster, and the whole team is thrilled to secure their first points of the season. Bruno drove very well to finish sixth even though he was last at the restart. Unfortunately, Pastor had to retire due to an engine problem while there were only a few laps left and he was in tenth position. »
