Sunday: Marussia continues to make progress

Timo Glock – 17th

« Another good weekend for us. We finished once again with both our cars, which is a great achievement for the team and something we can be proud of. It was a tough race, but I think we made the right tire choices and changes at the right times, switching from intermediates to wets and then after the second start, going from wets back to intermediates. Coming in immediately was the right thing to do, and I managed to keep the inters as long as possible. Once again, we were among the first to switch to slicks, and we managed to push to stay ahead of Kovalainen, so well done to the whole team. Everyone stayed calm when the red flag came out. Great work from the team, particularly those looking after my car, as they’ve done an incredible job in the first two races. We must now focus on improving in China. »

Charles Pic – 20th

« It was a tricky race today with difficult conditions. It was my first time with rain tires, so it was hard to know the best time to switch to intermediates at my second stop. Then we had a clutch problem at my third stop, which is a shame because we lost time. Overall, I am happy with my pace because it was consistent compared to Timo on intermediates and then slicks, which is positive. A great job by everyone this weekend because I know it has been very tough. I look forward to China where I hope to continue making progress. »

John Booth – Team Principal

A fantastic end to what has been an important weekend for the team. It’s very encouraging to see that we are making progress in every area, the most important being performance. The small updates introduced on Friday were the result of hard work at the factory in recent weeks on the aerodynamics side, and we clearly saw the result this weekend. However, we must not rest on our laurels, and it is now the beginning of an exciting and intensive development program for us.

This was an interesting race today, with many twists and turns, which the racing team managed very well. We were particularly impressed by how Charles managed to stay ahead of Kovalainen, only losing his position during his pit stop. A good note also for Timo’s performance in dry conditions, he was great. We now need to evaluate these last two races to come back even stronger in China in three weeks.
