Saturday: Williams aims to finish in the points
The Williams team hoped for a bit better in this second qualifying session, but Maldonado's 11th place shows a possibility of scoring points tomorrow during the race, and that's the goal set by the Grove team.
Pastor Maldonado – 7th and 11th
In Q1, I made a mistake in turn 11 and went wide, causing some minor damage to the car. We knew it would be difficult to make it to Q3 today, but we have good race pace. It will be tough tomorrow, but our car seems consistent on long stints, so I’m looking forward to this new challenge.
Bruno Senna – 10th and 13th
We attacked throughout the day but there is still clearly more performance to extract from the car. It was a difficult session with a very tight grid, but we are getting closer. We have a good car, so we now need to work on the best strategy to move up in the race tomorrow.
Mark Gillan, Chief Engineer in Charge of Operations
We had a good practice session this morning but unfortunately, we were unable to capitalize on our pace during qualifying, with Pastor finishing 11th and Bruno 13th. Pastor’s car was slightly damaged on his last run in Q2, which affected the aerodynamic balance of the car. We look forward to tomorrow’s race and aim to fight for points.
