Saturday: Williams hopes to score his first points
Pastor Maldonado managed to place his Williams FW34 in Q3 during the qualifying session in Melbourne. The Venezuelan driver will start from 8th place on the grid tomorrow and hopes to score his first points of the season. His teammate, Bruno Senna, did not have the same success, and the Brazilian just wants to give his best and hopes to climb up the hierarchy during the race.
Pastor Maldonado – 8th and 8th
« It was a great way to start the season for the team today. We showed that we were competitive, and now we must keep pushing. The car has improved throughout the weekend and we must continue in this direction. Now, tomorrow’s race depends on our pace and strategy. »
Bruno Senna – 15th and 14th
It’s a bit of a lottery when you approach the qualifying session without having had a full day of running on Friday, but the car seems good. Pastor qualified in the top 10, which is a really good sign for the team. I wasn’t particularly happy with my lap, but it’s the first qualifying session of the year. There are still 19 to go, and I’m sure that with a bit of experience, it will come. Tomorrow will be a different day, so we’ll see what we can do.
Mark Gillan – Chief Operations Engineer
« It has been a very satisfying day for the team with Pastor qualifying in a very nice 8th place and Bruno, who unfortunately couldn’t get a clear lap, finishing 14th. The whole team is looking forward to tomorrow’s race and we hope to score our first points of the season. »
