Friday: Caterham is all smiles
A first official practice session is always a special moment for teams and drivers as it allows them to see if the work done over the winter has paid off. At Caterham, there's quite a bit of smiling after this first day. Despite the rain that disrupted the initial program, the C01 proved to be competitive, and the innovations brought to this race add value. The rest of the weekend looks promising for Tony Fernandes' team.
Heikki Kovalainen: 17th and 8th
« The car performed well from the first lap this morning. It’s a shame that we couldn’t test the tires more because of the weather, but it’s the same for everyone. The main thing is that we have a good balance and we improved the setup during both sessions. It’s also a good thing to see that the new front wing provides more grip, so that’s another step forward and it puts us in good shape for tomorrow. »
Vitaly Petrov: 20th and 13th
« It was a reasonably positive day for me. The weather meant we weren’t able to try too many things with the setup and we had a small problem this morning but the main thing for today is that I feel comfortable with the team. We are building a good relationship between me and the engineers as well as with the mechanics, so we will be able to get the best out of this car.
