Two more seasons for Schumacher?
Michael Schumacher could continue his F1 comeback until the end of 2014. At least that is what the officials of Mercedes and the Mercedes AMG team seem to wish.
Michael Schumacher made his return to F1 at the beginning of 2010 with the Mercedes GP team, which has since become Mercedes AMG. The seven-time German world champion had signed a contract for three years, with some options. This contract will therefore come to an end at the end of the year.
Even though Schumacher does not have the best car and has not yet been able to secure a single victory for the brand with the star in the past two years, he might extend his F1 journey for a few more years.
And on the Mercedes side, they wish to keep the German driver. Indeed, after the statements from Daimler’s boss regarding a possible extension, it’s Ross Brawn’s turn, the team director, to express his desire to continue the collaboration with Michael Schumacher.
We will first ask Michael (if he wishes to continue his career in F1), before reaching out to other candidates. But if we manage to progress to the next level this year, then Michael will certainly be delighted to continue, to take advantage of it in the near future, Ross Brawn told Bild.
Michael Schumacher could be offered a two-season contract, with the end of 2014 as the deadline to reconsider a possible definitive retirement from his F1 driving career.
