Sutil has opportunities in WTCC and IndyCar
Adrian Sutil will not drive in F1 in 2012, but he could continue his career as an automobile driver in other championships - in WTCC or in IndyCar according to the German press.
Adrian Sutil was not retained by the Sahara Force India team in 2012, with Nico Hülkenberg being preferred instead. The 24 Formula 1 seats have already been filled, so the only possible opportunity for Sutil connected to Formula 1 is a role as a third driver or test driver at Pirelli.
The two possibilities seem unlikely, as at Pirelli it’s Vitaly Petrov who seems to be expected to work alongside Lucas di Grassi. And given Sutil’s experience, it would be surprising to see him settle for a simple role as a test and reserve driver.
After five seasons as a full-time F1 driver with Spyker and then Force India, Sutil might decide to look elsewhere – somewhat forced to do so. He could thus embark on a new championship and, according to the German daily Bild, he has received offers from a WTCC team and also from an IndyCar team.
