Force India wants to emulate Red Bull

The new investor in the Sahara Force India team, the head of the Sahara Group, Subrata Roy wants to continue moving forward with the only Indian Formula 1 team. The co-owner along with Vijay Mallya wants to see Force India continue to grow. Mallya stated in the German press that more and more people are supporting his team.

Thanks to impressive performances, particularly in 2011 when the team ranked 6th in the constructors’ championship, ahead of Williams and Toro Rosso notably, Force India is finding it increasingly difficult to meet the desires of fans who continuously aim higher.

The Indians are proud that we were able to create a team for the country to play an important role in Formula 1. Thanks to our success, we have attracted even more supporters. Now it is difficult to cope with the demands. People in India now expect us to beat Mercedes, Vijay Mallya told Auto Motor und Sport.

Force India would love to follow the illustrious example of the Red Bull Racing team, which became Constructors’ World Champion in six years and even double champions in seven. The objective of achieving a similar path to the Austrian team is obviously something that tempts and inspires Vijay Mallya. According to him, it’s even something achievable – even if he doesn’t have the same resources as Red Bull.

«Why not (do like Red Bull)? Subrata Roy’s vision is to be as good as Red Bull, but he is so excited that I have to curb his enthusiasm a bit. There are no shortcuts possible in Formula 1, » Mallya added.
