Pirelli’s 2011 season in numbers

2011 marked the return of Pirelli to Formula One after 20 years of absence. The Italian manufacturer, which was contesting its 222nd Grand Prix in Brazil, securing its 63rd victory, significantly contributed to the spectacle provided by the drivers and teams during the races and also heralded the return of strategy that had sometimes been missing in recent years.

As the curtain fell on Sunday on this 2011 edition of the World Championship, the Milan firm takes stock of its season in a few figures:

Tires

– C’est un total de 24.000 pneus pour le sec et 4.600 pneus pour le mouillé qui furent fournis cette saison pour les courses. A ce total viennent s’ajouter 6.000 pneus produits pour les tests. Parmi ceux-ci, 21.100 pneus slicks et 2.900 pneus pneus pluie furent utilisés cette saison.

– 10.200 kilos de gomme ont été déposés sur les circuits du championnat du monde de F1 cette saison.

– 28.600 pneus course et 6’000 pneus tests ont été recyclés en 2011

– La durée de vie moyenne d’un pneu sec cette saison fut de 120 kilomètres.
