Kubica: Lotus Renault GP responds to Morelli
Eric Boullier reacts to the statements by Daniele Morelli, manager of Robert Kubica, who disputed the official Lotus Renault GP press release announcing the Polish driver's inability to participate at the start of the 2012 season.
After being accused by Daniele Morelli, manager of Robert Kubica, of distorting the Polish driver’s statements in the official team announcement that he, having suffered a serious accident during the Rallye Ronde di Andorra in February 2011, would not be on the starting grid at the beginning of the season, Eric Boullier, director of Lotus Renault Grand Prix, refutes Daniele Morelli’s allegations: “We were in agreement (regarding the announcement) because, obviously, Robert will not be able to start the season with us, or with anyone for that matter,” reports the *Press Association*. “We agreed with Daniele to make a statement, if only to inform people of the situation. He approved, so everything was fine: I can show you the email. And now he is upset by I don’t know what, to be honest. I don’t want to comment further.”
The Italian manager even went so far as to question the very existence of a contract for 2012 between the driver and the team: “He creates stories out of nothing” Boullier seems irritated. “We have been very clear, I even think professional. We have waited for Kubica for a long time and we continue to wait for him if he wants to test for us or evaluate himself or for us to help him.”
The Pole indeed has a contract for 2012, as an announcement of the extension of his initial two-year contract with the team based in Enstone took place in July 2010: « It was a fairly easy decision for me to continue with a team where I feel at home. What is important for me is to be in a good atmosphere, with the right people, where everyone is looking in the same direction,” said the Pole.
