Charouz tested at HRT in Brazil
The Czech will drive Vitantonio Liuzzi's F111 during the first free practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Jan Charouz, who participated in the young driver tests in Abu Dhabi with the Spanish team, will also take part in the first free practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix, in the cockpit of Vitantonio Liuzzi’s F111 No. 23: « Jan is an up-and-coming driver as he proved while driving for us during the young driver test days in Abu Dhabi. He did a good job by covering enough kilometers in an F1 car to receive the Super License. He will replace Tonio in Free Practice to continue his learning, and I’m sure he will quickly get up to speed. We are happy to give him the opportunity to make his F1 debut and I am sure it will be a positive experience. »
The 24-year-old Czech driver has notably excelled in endurance racing, where he won the Le Mans Series title in 2009 for Aston Martin, before returning to single-seaters in Formula Renault 3.5 and in the Renault F1 Driver program: “It’s a great feeling to take part in a Formula One free practice session. I will drive once again for HRT after testing with them last Wednesday in Abu Dhabi and obtaining my Super License, which allows me to participate in the first free practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix. I am very happy to have this opportunity and would like to thank my father for his support. I also do not forget my sponsors who have helped make this possible.”
I hope to perform well in Brazil, although I know it won’t be easy. Interlagos is a track on which I have never driven, but it’s one of those I have tried on the simulator and enjoyed.
