Maldonado and Alguersuari penalized after the race
The Venezuelan and the Spaniard received penalties of 30 and 20 seconds respectively, deducted from their race time for failing to respect blue flags during the race.
Pastor Maldonado and Jaime Alguersuari were penalized after the race for not respecting the blue flags, particularly by continuing to battle in front of Felipe Massa and Mark Webber who were overtaking them.
The Williams driver and his counterpart from Toro Rosso were summoned before the panel of stewards, which included Derek Warwick. The Spaniard was penalized with the equivalent of a drive-through, which is 20 seconds deducted from his race time. The Venezuelan, on the other hand, received the equivalent of a stop-and-go — 30 seconds added to his race time — after already being handed a drive-through penalty during the race for the same reason.
These two penalties, however, have no influence on the final race standings, with Maldonado ahead of Alguersuari in 14th position.
