Sunday: HRT hoped to do better in Abu Dhabi

With a hint of disappointment, HRT leaves Abu Dhabi as the team experienced Ricciardo's retirement, three laps before the checkered flag, due to an alternator failure. Liuzzi, for his part, suffered from the same balance issues on his car as the day before and was penalized by a one-stop strategy.

Sunday: HRT hoped to do better in Abu Dhabi

Vitantonio Liuzzi – 20th:

« The car suffered from the same balance problems as yesterday. The team worked on it all night to resolve them, but unfortunately, the car was not perfectly balanced today. There was understeer in left turns, and oversteer in three turns, which meant it was difficult to maintain a good race pace.

We got off to a good start and gained a few positions, but it was a tough challenge. However, I pushed until the very end and the car made it to the finish, which is a positive thing. It was a difficult race, but we achieved a decent result.

Daniel Ricciardo – Retirement:

« I got a good start at the beginning, overtaking Glock and finding myself right behind Trulli. Then, I stayed in the middle in turn 1, which was probably a mistake since Glock overtook me on the outside. My pace was good, but I lost a few places at the start and had to regain them. I closed the gap with Tonio, but then I couldn’t overtake him.

During the second stint, I was able to stay in contact with Glock. Then I got caught in traffic and, three laps from the finish, my car stopped. It’s a shame to end the race prematurely, but overall, the pace was good and I was setting good lap times, so that’s something to remember for the next race. »

Colin Kolles, Team Principal:

This is clearly not the result we were hoping for after what we’ve shown in recent races, but the drivers did everything they could. We had a good pace. Tonio went with a one-stop strategy which turned out not to be the best in the end. Daniel, on the other hand, was on a two-stop strategy and was on pace to battle with Glock throughout the race. Unfortunately, he couldn’t finish the race for three laps due to an electrical problem.

It’s really a shame because he was having a fantastic race. Now, we need to focus on Brazil and hope not to encounter these problems again.
