Friday: Red Bull drivers predict a close fight for pole position
Red Bull is slightly behind at the end of this first day of testing at the Yas Marina circuit. McLaren seems to be a formidable opponent on this track, but Sebastian Vettel predicts a close fight for pole position tomorrow.
Mark Webber – 2nd and 5th:
It seems easy to make a mistake in turn 1 when you see guys of Alonso and Vettel’s caliber go off. Overall, it was a good day for us, and we did all the laps we needed. I’m not predicting anything because we know things can change on Sunday, but we are in a good place, and I’m happy with the car.
Sebastian Vettel – 4th and 6th:
« I had an accident during FP2. It wasn’t much; I lost the car entering turn number 1. I think I was too aggressive and too fast on the curb, so I lost the rear of the car and couldn’t recover it. I was lucky to be able to go back out at the end of the session; there wasn’t much damage except to the front wing. If you only touch the curb at that spot, there’s no problem. But I was going too fast. We are in good shape, but I think it will be tight tomorrow. »
