Button has no advice to give to Hamilton

It would probably be an exaggeration to say that Lewis Hamilton is once again in the eye of the storm, but after a relatively complicated Singapore Grand Prix, his case continues to be debated among drivers, former drivers, and even within his immediate circle. Some criticize him for his excessive aggressiveness, others for his lack of reflection or the absence of a proper environment around him, and, of course, Jenson Button, as a teammate of the 2008 world champion, could hardly escape the media’s questions on the subject.

A few months ago, Niki Lauda stated, in the Sunday Express, that « Lewis could learn a lot from Button » and the media therefore asked, this Sunday, the McLaren driver if he had – or would have – called his teammate to offer him some advice: « To be honest, I didn’t intend to » said the Englishman in the Guardian. « We don’t talk when we’re away from the circuits. When the race is over, we go spend time with people who really know us personally and not just as race car drivers. When he goes home, I’m sure there will be people around to take his mind off things. »

For his part, during his demonstration in Bangalore, Lewis Hamilton revisited the altercation he had on Sunday evening with Felipe Massa, in the paddock. After seeing his race ruined by a puncture caused by a clash with the McLaren of the 2008 World Champion, the Brazilian sharply confronted him in front of the cameras: “I was able to simply ignore it and move on,” stated Lewis Hamilton, before specifying that he still holds a great deal of respect for the man who was his runner-up the year he was crowned champion.
