Will Sebastian Vettel retire in 2014?
In an interview with Playboy Germany magazine, the 2010 world champion leaves the door open regarding a possible retirement after the end of his contract in 2014.
When it comes to considering the retirement of certain drivers, the names Michael Schumacher, Jarno Trulli, Rubens Barrichello, Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, or even Felipe Massa would likely come before that of… Sebastian Vettel.
And yet, as he sails gently but surely towards his second consecutive title – and with it the record for the youngest double world champion -, Sebastian Vettel does not rule out the idea of taking early retirement: “My contract runs until 2014 and I’m not looking further ahead for now. Maybe in four or five years, Formula One will no longer excite me, and I’ll want to do something different,” the German explains in the German edition of Playboy magazine.
Rest assured, fans of the reigning world champion, it’s not because he’s not ruling out the idea that he’s considering retirement at just 24 years old: « For the moment, I don’t imagine it, but you should never say never. The sensations I get when I’m driving are so much fun and give me more satisfaction than anything else in life. There are enormous forces acting on your body when you brake and turn the steering wheel, to the point where your brain screams: « Stop, it’s impossible! ». But then the car shows you that it’s possible. »
