On Thursday, the brand new GP2 Series champion, Romain Grosjean, conducted straight-line testing for the Lotus Renault GP team at Duxford.

According to Autosport, these tests aimed to allow the young Franco-Swiss driver to familiarize himself with the R31. Yesterday was the third of the four test days authorized by the FIA, explains a team spokesperson. Since Bruno has become one of our race drivers, we took the opportunity to let Romain run with the R31 as he is our reserve driver today.

The goal was therefore to allow Grosjean to get comfortable in the Lotus Renault seat but also to evaluate certain aerodynamic settings for the rest of the season.

Since the beginning of the season, the GP2 driver has been part of the reserve drivers for the English team, but at the time, Bruno Senna made sure to remind everyone that he was the third driver and that it would be him who would be called if one of the main drivers were unavailable. With Ayrton’s nephew being given a main position alongside Petrov, Grosjean moves up a notch in the hierarchy. He will therefore travel to all the remaining Grand Prix races with the team.
