Kobayashi realistic for Monza
Last year, the Japanese driver retired at the start of the race due to a mechanical problem.
Kamui Kobayashi thinks that Sauber can set a good time at the Italian Grand Prix and that he can finish in the points for the first time since the German Grand Prix (where he finished 9th).
Sauber is currently sixth in the constructors’ championship but is facing a comeback from rival Force India, which is three points behind after a series of good performances (let’s recall that in Belgium, Force India finished 7th and 11th, while on Sauber’s side, only Kobayashi finished the race in 12th position).
The fast nature of the Monza circuit means that it should once again be in the hands of the Force India drivers, and Kobayashi is being realistic about the chances of the Sauber team.
Monza will be a challenge, we will have to find the best settings for the car and see how fast we can go on the long straights. Last year we qualified 12th, which wasn’t too bad, because we had difficulties. Let’s hope this year’s race will be better.
Last year I couldn’t race due to a technical incident and I retired on the first lap after starting from the pits. But this year I am quite confident of having a good race,” explains the Japanese driver.
Like every team, Sauber will have special settings for Monza, with low front downforce and a modified rear wing.
