A wind of optimism is blowing at Mercedes GP
The team achieved its best overall result at Spa-Francorchamps and hopes to continue at Monza.
In Belgium, the Mercedes GP team delivered a strong performance by finishing in fifth and sixth positions on Sunday, marking the team’s best overall result in 2011. Nico Rosberg believes that the German team can maintain its momentum next week in Italy.
« I am looking forward to the Monza weekend, » declares Rosberg. « At Spa, we learned that our car could be competitive on high-speed tracks and we clearly made a step forward there. »
The German pilot’s goal will therefore be to perform at least as well on the Italian circuit next weekend. « I am confident that we can do it again in Italy next weekend. I visited the factory this week and I am happy with the way things are going. »
His teammate made a superb comeback on his favorite circuit. Starting from the last position, Michael Schumacher returned to the exhausts of the second Mercedes at the end of the race and ultimately finished ahead of Nico Rosberg. Therefore, the time is also for optimism for the seven-time world champion.
« We achieved a good result at Spa and I am particularly satisfied with the battles for overtaking and the challenge of gaining so many places during the race. It gave us a boost for the final part of the season and we will continue to push for the best possible results, » highlights Michael Schumacher.
