Sunday: Sutil brings 6 points for Force India at Spa

After disappointing qualifying sessions, Force India confirmed in the race the potential seen during the tests, and Adrian Sutil leaves Belgium with an opportunistic 7th place. On the other hand, Paul di Resta was unlucky and finished just outside the points.

Sunday: Sutil brings 6 points for Force India at Spa

Adrian Sutil – 7th

« After starting from 15th place, we can be happy with today’s 7th place. It was an exciting race with a lot of action, but we had a good strategy and made the right decisions at the right time.

When the safety car came out, I immediately changed tires, which helped me gain a few positions. I came out in 6th place and after that, I only lost one position to Schumacher who was on soft tires and faster than me.

Overall, I think this result accurately reflects the pace we had this weekend, and it’s nice to have been able to make up for the problems we encountered yesterday to leave here with important points.

Paul di Resta – 11th

I got off to a very good start and everything seemed to be going well. But there was an accident in front of me and I thought I could get through the corner without any trouble when I was hit by Timo Glock. It made a hole in my floor, damaged my front wing, and the car was understeering a lot. Apart from that, the race pace was pretty solid, but I was a bit unlucky with the safety car because priority was given to the better ranked car, Adrian’s, and I dropped back behind the Williams. Without that, I probably could have been ahead of Maldonado. It’s good that Adrian was able to score points and that we were able to demonstrate the car’s performance once again.

Vijay Mallya, President and Team Principal

« Given the problems we encountered yesterday, I am very happy that we were able to leave Spa with 6 points to strengthen our position in the championship.

It was a typical Spa race, very exciting, and Adrian drove well to break away from the pack and finish 7th. It was a great collective performance and strategy that we implemented.

I’m sorry for Paul who couldn’t join him in the points due to bad luck. The damage he suffered in the first lap affected the car’s balance, and then he missed the timing with the safety car.

What is certain is that we are leaving here in high spirits, and I am confident that we can continue our momentum at Monza in two weeks.
