Renewal in sight for D’Ambrosio?
A Belgian company has committed for 3 years alongside the Marussia Virgin Racing driver.
The future of Jérôme D’Ambrosio might be about to be secured. Even if the Belgian driver fully satisfies his team and management, more is needed to secure his seat for next season. It is known that Gravity wished not to have to dip into their pockets anymore, so the arrival of a sponsor to support the driver was welcome.
Yesterday afternoon, Eric Boullier told RTBF that a Belgian company had signed an agreement with D’Ambrosio for a period of three years. This contract is obviously good news and could allow the Belgian to keep his seat next season.
Questioned about this by the Francophone press present at Spa-Francorchamps, D’Ambrosio confirmed that an agreement had been reached with a Belgian company but did not wish to elaborate further. “I will not go into details and I will not say the name of the company,” JDA told journalists present in the paddock at Spa.
An announcement about this new sponsor will be made in Monza in two weeks. This choice has surprised many Belgian journalists who wonder why the officialization of this agreement is not happening in Spa, which would be relatively logical. The answer might simply be that by then this officialization could be accompanied by the announcement of D’Ambrosio’s renewal alongside Timo Glock for 2012. Wait and see, as they say in these cases.
